Once the primary gutta percha point is seated and sealer has been applied, obturation isn’t finished until the material is fully condensed against the canal walls. A finger spreader is pushed alongside the primary point to compress it laterally, opening space for an accessory point, while a finger plugger presses material straight down the canal in a vertical direction, packing it tightly against the canal walls.
